[00:00:10] Speaker A: Hi, this is the real Trent Rezner speaking. The following is a short clip from nailed. Even deeper, the bonus feed from the nailed podcast. I don't listen to podcasts, but apparently you can get twice as much nailed content by getting on your hands and your knees and subscribing to the Patreon. The rest of this episode is there and a whole fucking bunch of other shit. So I hope you pigs like this preview, if not, tough shit. [00:00:43] Speaker B: Can we talk about the Trent not selfie Trent portrait for a second? [00:00:48] Speaker C: Yes, let's talk about this Trent portrait. [00:00:50] Speaker B: It is interesting that in the vinyl, they cropped way more of him out. Like, we see almost all of him in the CD and the vinyl. I don't know. Is he a little embarrassed? [00:01:02] Speaker D: Yeah, I don't think that it's an embarrassment thing. I think it's just different formats get different variations on the think. What I thought was interesting is it looks like when I first saw this, it looks like Trent is the way. [00:01:14] Speaker C: He'S holding his hands on his lapel. [00:01:17] Speaker B: Yeah, this is weird. [00:01:18] Speaker D: It almost looks like he is pressing. [00:01:20] Speaker C: A button that is causing him to disintegrate. Yeah, that's what I always thought. [00:01:24] Speaker B: He's making a weird hand gesture with two fingers on his chest. And I remember meathead making fun of that in an article and saying it looked like he was throwing gang signs. [00:01:34] Speaker C: Oh, I didn't think that. I just thought it was like. [00:01:37] Speaker B: I think it does a little bit. [00:01:38] Speaker D: He is causing. It almost looks like there's something he's. [00:01:43] Speaker C: Pressing that is causing, like, this glitch effect. [00:01:45] Speaker B: Or he's doing like, an ET, like, right here, maybe pressing a thing that lights up his heart. [00:01:53] Speaker C: Maybe he's a big et head like me. [00:01:55] Speaker B: You know? He's an ET, Stan. [00:01:57] Speaker C: Gotta be. [00:01:59] Speaker B: But it's a bold. It's a bold choice. [00:02:02] Speaker C: Are people that upset. People are. [00:02:04] Speaker B: Don't. I don't know that they were. I just recall a little bit of contention about it. [00:02:11] Speaker C: He looks great. I say put yourself in your art. [00:02:14] Speaker D: If you want to. I think his big thing was trying not to use himself in the COVID. [00:02:18] Speaker C: Art because that can make it look really dated. [00:02:21] Speaker B: That would be unforgivable. I think putting his face on a cover, that's just not him. [00:02:27] Speaker C: I think that would cause more of a stir. But on the inside, I don't think it matters. [00:02:32] Speaker B: He's never done it since. That probably means something that he's never put himself. Okay. [00:02:40] Speaker C: Sorry. [00:02:41] Speaker B: I guess it's him on the slip. [00:02:44] Speaker C: It's manipulated. [00:02:45] Speaker B: It doesn't even look like him. Yeah, you don't really see his. So. Okay, I'm kind of wrong. I was kind of dead wrong there. [00:02:53] Speaker D: But kind of made a joke earlier. [00:02:54] Speaker C: And Blake didn't catch up. [00:02:56] Speaker B: What? [00:02:56] Speaker C: Nothing. [00:02:57] Speaker A: What was the. [00:02:58] Speaker C: I said it'd be different if you put himself on the COVID And I was waiting for you to say something and you didn't. [00:03:02] Speaker B: Oh, the slip. I was too dumb to think of it right then, and I was just, like, waiting for. You never do that. [00:03:08] Speaker C: Correct me. [00:03:09] Speaker B: Anyway, sometimes I forget about the poor, poor the slip, but it just doesn't seem like he's putting himself on the COVID because it's so abstract. [00:03:18] Speaker C: And we'll talk about that cover because I have some thoughts. [00:03:20] Speaker B: There's no face. [00:03:22] Speaker C: There's no face. [00:03:22] Speaker B: It could be anyone. [00:03:24] Speaker D: It could be Rob Sheridan. [00:03:25] Speaker C: I don't fucking know. [00:03:26] Speaker B: I think he was taking the picture. [00:03:30] Speaker C: Okay, so I love this glitch photo. So I'm going to have to make it, like, a background or something. I don't know. [00:03:37] Speaker B: It's just hot. [00:03:37] Speaker C: Look how glitched his ear is. [00:03:38] Speaker B: I don't remember seeing that one. [00:03:40] Speaker C: This is just a promo. There's also one that was of. There was a cool piece of the band at the time that was also really glitched up. Okay, one other thing to note before we move on to the packaging of with teeth, is there something that you notice on the CD that does not appear anymore? [00:04:06] Speaker B: Big awkward. Although not the biggest I've ever seen. [00:04:09] Speaker C: Oh, the anti piracy. [00:04:10] Speaker B: Yeah, the. Nothing much smaller than the anti piracy badge is the nothing Records logo. Rectangle. [00:04:19] Speaker C: This is the last album. Not the last thing, but the last. [00:04:24] Speaker D: Album that nine inch Nell's released that has the nothing records logo on it. [00:04:28] Speaker B: Right. The beginning of the end for nothing. [00:04:32] Speaker D: It really was. Anyway, I just wanted to point that out. [00:04:36] Speaker B: Sad. Sad to see it. Yep. [00:04:39] Speaker C: After the release of beside you in time, the label was declared extinct. Those are words. [00:04:46] Speaker B: They can't see your air quotes. [00:04:47] Speaker C: Those are not my words. So let's talk about this packaging. [00:04:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:04:51] Speaker C: So, in March of 2005, before the album was even released, a fan named. [00:04:57] Speaker D: Nigel asked Trent about packaging for the new album on nin access. [00:05:02] Speaker C: And Trent said, this is long. These are going to be some long reading moments here. [00:05:08] Speaker B: Trent said. Sucked my entire. I know. [00:05:10] Speaker C: Can you believe it? [00:05:11] Speaker A: That's rude. Okay.
